Staged in a warehouse night club in Peckham, South London, Toi Toi 2015 (1 & 2) presented two evenings of continuous music entertainment that demonstrated the versatility and relevance of opera to contemporary audiences, as well as highlighting links between popular and operatic music.
Toi Toi brought together some of London’s leading bands, rock- and electric-opera groups, pop-opera fusion performers, and politically aware modern-opera composers.
Artistic Director Ella Marchment said…
‘I’m really looking forward to this project, because it’s the first time that so many diverse groups will have worked together in close collaboration to provide cutting-edge musical and dramatic entertainment. Toi Toi is already generating a sense of camaraderie between different London-based companies. It’s a friendly platform for presenting new works, allowing audiences to relax while experiencing opera as they’ve never experienced it before!’
